Ink endeavors
Whether with brush or chisel . . . we humans have been making our marks on this Big Blue Marble for millennia.

Across Europe, ancient peoples created images of the flora and fauna of thier daily lives on the walls and ceilings of caves.  From the coast of Ecuador into upper regions of the Amazon, ancient Artists carved ornate petroglyphs of ordinary and obscure images.

Over time, images were converted into standardized symbols that spoke a silent language.  For the Kings of Eygpt, hieroglyphs documented their history, recipes and myths.  For the Chiefs of North American, wooden totems and woven tapestries told of  tribal folklore and ancestral lineages.

Eventually those empirical (real world) images were replaced by schemes of squiggles or strike marks made on paper or stone.  The anciet people of Babylon created one of the first alphabets and the anciet inhabitants of Chine formed an intricate lexicon of symbols that represented people, places and things in their society.

Somewhere along the human path, we found ways to expedite reproduction of those agreed upon characters and symbols--e.g. Gutenberg's press or the invention of the Linotype Machine.

Through those mechanical devices, we fostered literacy and facilitated the mass production of written documents.

And then: "Oy, vey; we'd gotten so far 'til somebody let Karl have a keyboard!"

But despite that mishap .. . . Artistic expression with pen, paint or pigment were, are and will be THE WAY we cross the oceans of cultural divide and build bridges of understanding between one another.

So . . . what is your Ink Endeavor?

Do you write poetry?

Have you written a short story?

Do you sketch, draw or paint?

And, would you enjoy having your Artistic Expression published in the . . .
